Steve was a kind, gentle and an intelligent man. He passed away on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, due to brain cancer that was diagnosed in February 2024.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Rosemary.Steve and Melodee Geldert were married in 1981, and were blessed with a son, Darren L. Klein, in 1986.
While working full time, Steve also earned his BA from Metro State University in 1981, after attending part-time night classes for ten years. He attended the University of Minnesota from 1969 to 1972, and in 1974 received a Diploma in Graphic Communications from 916 Vocational Technical Institute, White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Steve worked for The Church of St. Cecilia from 2020 until 2024, when he was diagnosed with his illness.
Steve worked as an administrator for a variety of churches, as follows:
Steve worked at both Church of Corpus Christi and North Como Presbyterian Church (both part time) from 2011 to 2015, Church of St. John Neumann from 2005 to 2010, Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary from 2001 to 2005, and St. Peter’s Church and School in Forest Lake from 1998 to 2001.
Steve also was employed with the Graco Employees Credit Union from 1991 to 1998, FiSERVE Minneapolis from 1989 to 1998. Other employers were US Federal Credit Union, Travelers Express, and Universal Hospital Services (UHS).
A Mass of Christian Burial for Steve will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27 at The Church of St. Cecilia, 2357 Bayless Place, St. Paul, MN 55114. Visitation will be held at the church from 10-11 AM Saturday.
