Steven Fritts passed away January 17th, 2026, from a combination of health ailments. Steve was born May 18th, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He had a brilliant mind, an insatiable scientific curiosity and found great joy in his fascination of many things. Steve had multiple degrees after having studied medicine, geology, and chemistry. In his younger years Steve was active, staying fit with swimming, rock-hounding, and hiking. In his later years he especially enjoyed playing Gordon Lightfoot’s music on his guitar, expanding his understanding of religious studies along with his commitment to Christ, as well as amassing a huge rock collection which reflected his passion with the geologic history of Northern Minnesota. Steve worked as a geologist early in his career, then as a chemist for Surmodics, from which he retired a few years ago. Steve touched the lives of those around him with his genuine soul, his big heart, and by living a life of kindness and generosity shared with many people whom he loved. Steve is survived by sister and best friend, Susan; brother, David; and nephews Jeremy and Joshua. After having lost the love of his life, Debbie Fritts, in 2020, he has now rejoined her in Heaven.
