Therese E. Bieniek

November 5, 1946 — May 24, 2023

Therese Elizabeth (Martin) Bieniek, 76, of St. Paul, MN was born on November 5, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN, passed away peacefully the morning of May 24, 2023.

Terri regularly reminisced about her fond memories in Wabasha, MN along the Mississippi River.  Her father, George, who was a watchmaker by trade, bought a Jewelry store there where the family spent the spring and summer of 1956, until the business was no longer viable. Speculation is that the swimming lessons in the Mississippi River there may have contributed to Terri’s continuous fear of swimming. The family made such good friends here they would take the train and continue to visit Wabasha many summers after that.  These were some of her happiest childhood memories, as experiences there were so different than “city life”.

Terri graduated from St. Agnes High School in St. Paul, MN a 13-year Aggie in 1964.  She joined a Women’s Sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, enjoying many fun social events where she met many life-long friends that she maintained for her whole life.

In the Fall of 1971, Terri married Bob Bieniek – they raised their three sons in North St. Paul, MN before moving to Maplewood having their daughter while the Belmont house was under-construction.  Terri continued her involvement at St. Agnes Church and School where all four kids attended and the family went for Sunday Mass.  She also sang in the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale for many years along with her mother, Cecilia Martin.  Terri could be found helping out at various events at St. Agnes from their yearly Fall Festival to school events and attending her children’s sports games.  Her son Tony’s friends recognized her continual presence by referring to Terri as “Mother Agnes.”

As her children grew up, married and had children of their own, Terri enjoyed meeting-up with her grandkids at a local park to play on swings and jungle-gyms.  The grandkids also still talk about “swimming at Grandma Terri’s” where they could visit her community pool at her condo in Roseville, MN and swim anytime of the year.

As various health issues warranted a move to a Care Facility the last two years, Terri continued to be visited by family and friends as well as make a few new friends at Cerenity Care Center in White Bear Lake, MN.   Special thanks to the caring personnel at Cerenity Care Center who helped Terri transition peacefully into eternal life.

Terri had a very special gift with people, she never forgot a face, a name or an interesting fact about you.  She could move mountains when the need arose and could use that gift to solicit help in organizing important events at St. Agnes.

Terri is survived by her three sisters, Mary Boyd, Rita Olsen, Carol Buettner; brother, Jim Martin; and her four children, Bob (Julie) Bieniek, Tony (Erin) Bieniek, Greg Bieniek, Mary (Brandon) Bergeron and their father Robert J. Bieniek.  She is loved and will be missed by her grandchildren, Christian, Sam, Emily, Alexander, Andrew, Annabelle, Garrett, Reid and Nolan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Cecilia Martin; nephew, Tommy Martin; and niece, Carrie (Olsen) Pasket.
