Thomas D. Cwiklo passed away in St. Paul, MN, on December 29, 2022.Thomas, "Tommy", "Tom" (to his friends), was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on December 1, 1949 to Frank and Stella Cwiklo.He attended St. Lawrence Catholic Grade School and graduated from Assumption High School. This was the beginning of his deep devotion to his Catholic faith. He served as an altar boy during this time and his love for the Church began. After high school, Tommy attended St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, where he graduated with a degree in English. From there, Tommy headed out east and lived with his brother, Bill, both working for the same company.Tommy returned to St. Paul and began a long and successful career as an engineer for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Always up for a challenge, and after his first retirement, Tommy began his second career and opened his own headhunting business, known as the J. David Group.When he was officially through with work, Tommy spent more time with family and friends, traveling to many exciting places. Some of his many highlights were cruising with his brother, Bill, to locations far and wide.Tommy also enjoyed entertaining and was a fabulous cook. Many delicious meals were served in his cozy dining room. And with that, came open and lively discussions with people from all walks of life.Tommy’s parish in St. Paul, was Maternity of Mary. There he was a lector, distributed communion to the homebound, and assisted with funeral luncheons. In short, Tommy was a devoted and faithful servant.He made many friends through his fellowship at the church and his social life reflected that. Tommy had a strong and tight circle surrounding him in his recreational activities, as well. He loved people and they loved him right back. One of his special gifts was a terrific sense of humor. His quick wit was a highlight for many. He was told more than once that he would make a great stand-up comedian. Tommy brought the house down on many occasions. He was deeply cherished and loved and will be missed by many. It is fitting Tommy died in his beloved Catholic church while attending Mass. He went every day for most of his life. This is where Tommy found his strength to carry on in daily life. Tommy is survived by his loving siblings, MaryAnn Nigbor, Bill Cwiklo, Chris Halverson, and Jean Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews, along with his closest friends.He was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Cwiklo; father, Frank Cwiklo; sisters, Betty and Carol; brother, Jim; his niece, Kim; and his nephew, Danny.Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday, January 6, 2023 at Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, 1414 N. Dale St., Saint Paul. Visitation at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 AM Friday. Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids, WI at a later date.
