Tim Ross passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 6, 2026, the day after Easter, following a fun‑filled holiday spent with his family. He was surrounded by love until his final moments. While his passing leaves a profound void, we take comfort in knowing he was called home to reunite with the family and friends who preceded him.
Tim was born and raised in Lino Lakes, Minnesota. He attended Forest Lake High School and later Alexandria Technical College, pursuing Law Enforcement. As a young man, Tim worked at his family‑owned grocery and liquor store, where he learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and community at an early age.
In 1979, Tim began his career with the Lino Lakes Police Department. He proudly served his community for 30 years, dedicating his life to public service until his retirement in 2009. His commitment, professionalism, and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and community members alike.
In 1985, Tim married the love of his life, Kathie, whom he met in 1980. Together they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage built on friendship, devotion, and unconditional love. They raised their children, Dan and Amy, first in Andover, Minnesota, and later returned to Lino Lakes, where they made a lasting home filled with family gatherings, laughter, and cherished traditions. Tim believed deeply in family being together, especially during the holidays, and worked hard to create a home where everyone felt welcome and loved.
Tim especially treasured his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took great pride and joy in spending time with each of them. Whether at home or at the family cabin in Pequot Lakes, Tim was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren—teaching them how to fish, helping build campfires, roasting marshmallows, or simply sitting with them by the lake. He loved sharing stories, laughing with them, and creating memories that will remain with them forever. Time spent with his grandchildren brought him true peace and fulfillment, and those moments were among his most cherished.
The family cabin in Pequot Lakes was Tim’s home away from home. Built from the ground up with the help of family and friends, it became a place of connection, reflection, and joy. It was there that Tim found both quiet contentment and some of his happiest moments surrounded by family.
When not at the lake, Tim enjoyed golfing, bowling in his Monday night league, and breakfast outings with friends—especially at Rusty Cow. After Kathie retired, the two began a daily tradition of playing gin together, a simple routine that reflected their close friendship and shared joy in everyday moments.
Tim and Kathie were truly best friends. Even after 40 years of marriage, their love remained as strong as ever—marked by mutual respect, laughter, and care for one another.
On Easter, Tim was in the best of spirits, sharing extra hugs and heartfelt “I love yous” with family—simple moments that have now become treasured memories.
Tim was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud and adoring grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will be remembered for his service, his generosity, his quiet strength, and above all, his love for his family. Though deeply missed, Tim Ross will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Survived by wife Kathie Ross; children, Dan McKee (Kristy) and Amy Hudalla (Dustin); grandchildren, Dawson, Devin, Landon, Bailey, and Alexis; siblings, Chris (Jeanine) Ross, Dan Ross, and Randy Ross; nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Preceded in death by parents; and siblings, Clifford, Kenneth, and Pat.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Tim’s medical team for their exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion, especially Dr. Lauren Wilkes of MHealth Fairview and the Cardiology Team at Allina Mercy Hospital.
