Dana "Jay" Kennedy

Age 56, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on August 13, 2024.

Preceded in death by parents, William & Antoinette (Perteet) Kennedy.

Survived by partner, Daniel Ross; fur babies, Iddy & Pugsley; siblings, Joel (Heidi), Renee (Scott) McNeal-Kennedy, Antoine "Tony"; nieces & nephews, Christopher (Maya) McNeal-Kennedy, Jasmine Kennedy, Habeeb McNeal, Jordan Kennedy, Ibrahim McNeal, Sabri McNeal-Kennedy; and many, many relatives & friends.

Dana loved to dance & sing and was an avid lover of R&B music, especially Janet Jackson. He was also a lover of animals and studied to be a veterinarian tech in college. His nickname in high school was "Smiley" because he had a smile that lit up the room. He had a strong presence in the LGBTQ+ community. Dana had a heart of gold and was known to make fast friends wherever he went. He loved his family & friends deeply and Dana will be deeply missed by those he loved and those who loved him.

Visitation 10:00 - 11:00 am Monday, August 19 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home (Roseville), 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd. B followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. (The service will be livestreamed on this obituary page.)

Interment Elmhurst Cemetery.

Following the interment, there will be a repast at TST Creative Catering & Ideal Hall, 1494 N. Dale St., St. Paul (next door to Elmhurst Cemetery) from 1:00 - 5:00 pm.
