LeRoy will be remembered for his humor, his unapologetic personality, his love of the simple things in life, and, most of all, the deep love and pride he had for his family.

LeRoy Robert Metz Sr., age 78, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

Born on June 24, 1948, LeRoy grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed aboard the U.S.S. Manatee.

For 59 years, LeRoy shared his life with the love of his life, his beloved wife, Audrey. Together, they built a lifetime of memories centered around family, laughter, and the simple things that made life special.

LeRoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking long drives to look at cars. He could often be found watching Westerns on television with a cold diet pop and a snack close by. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was never afraid to speak his mind, always remaining true to himself.

Above all, family was at the center of LeRoy's heart. He was incredibly proud of his son, LeRoy Jr., and treasured spending time with him. His granddaughters, Kayleigh and Dana, held a very special place in his heart, and he took great pride in the women they became. His three great-grandchildren, Brennan, Emmett, and Julia, brought him a special kind of joy. He loved watching his family grow and knowing that his legacy would continue through them.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Audrey; best friend, Tim; parents, Ardis & Martin (Ty); sisters, Rhonda, Roxanne, and Terry; and brother, Marty.

He is survived by his son, LeRoy Jr., and daughter-in-law, Darcy; granddaughters, Kayleigh Manning (Nick) and Dana Metz; three great-grandchildren, Brennan, Emmett, and Julia; brother, Larry; sisters-in-law, Judy, De, Bobbie and Debi; brothers-in-law, Bobby, Kenny & Dave; and many nieces and nephews.

LeRoy will be remembered for his humor, his unapologetic personality, his love of the simple things in life, and, most of all, the deep love and pride he had for his family. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rest peacefully, Dad/Papa. You will be missed more than words can say.

Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
